Padres Minor League Report: May 4

Right-hander Bryan Rodriguez continued a hot streak by Double-A San Antonio pitchers with eight shutout innings in the Missions' 6-0 win at Midland on Sunday. It was San Antonio's second straight shutout and the 10-13 Missions' third shutout in the past four games.

Rodriguez, 23, allowed five hits and a walk while striking out three. He is 1-4 with a 5.93 ERA.

Right-hander Michael Dimock struck out two in a perfect ninth as San Antonio won a season-best fourth straight game. Dimock, 25, has yet to allow an earned run in 10 innings over eight appearances. He has given up two unearned runs on three hits, no walks and 14 strikeouts.

Designated hitter Yeison Asencio (.253) led the offense, going 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Third baseman Casey McElroy (.308) was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Catcher Griff Erickson, from Westview High, was 2-for-4 with a double and a RBI to raise his batting average to .361.

Center fielder Travis Jankowski (.341) tripled in four at-bats to reach base in a Texas League-best 20th straight game.

Triple-A El Paso (15-9): Sacramento 4, Chihuahuas 1
Santana High grad James Needy (2-2, 6.85 ERA) allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits and two walks with three strikeouts in four innings. Left-hander Scott Elbert (5.56 ERA) allowed a walk with two strikeouts in two hitless innings. Right-hander Jay Jackson (0.00 ERA) had a walk and a strikeout in two hitless innings. Second baseman Taylor Lindsey (.268) was 2-for-3.

Class A Advanced Lake Elsinore (11-13): Storm 7, High Desert 5
Second baseman Fernando Perez, from Otay Ranch High, had a double, home run and four RBIs in four at-bats. Shortstop Jose Rondon (.294) was 3-for-5 with a triple, three runs scored and an RBI. Left fielder Nick Schulz (.267) was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Center fielder Auston Bousfield (.298) was 2-for-5 with an RBI. Starting right-hander Walker Weickel (3.97 ERA) walked two with two strikeouts in three hitless innings. Right-hander Luis Hernandez (1-2, 2.77 ERA) allowed a hit and a walk in two scoreless innings to get the win. Right-hander Genison Reyes (4.50 ERA) allowed a run on a hit and two walks in two innings. Right-hander Eric Yardley (0.00 ERA) struck out the only hitter he faced for his fifth save.

Class A Fort Wayne (7-14): TinCaps 6, South Bend 3
Starting right-hander Danielson Lamet (2.25 ERA) allowed two hits and two walks with five strikeouts in three scoreless innings. Right-hander T.J. Weir (1-0, 7.24 ERA) struck out one in three perfect innings to get the win. First baseman Trae Santos was 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs. Second baseman Felipe Blanco (.304) was 2-for-4 with a double. Left fielder Edwin Moreno (.279) was 2-for-5 with a double. Designated hitter Henry Charles (.275) was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Third baseman Duanel Jones (.348) had a two-run double.
