The San Diego Padres today announced that they have recalled right-handed pitcher Brad Boxberger from Triple-A Tucson and have designated right-handed pitcher Sean O'Sullivan for assignment. Executive Vice President/General Manager Josh Byrnes made the announcement.

O'Sullivan, 25, has gone 0-2 with a 3.96 ERA (11 ER, 25.0 IP) in seven games, three starts, for the Padres this year. The right-hander was signed by the Padres to a minor league contract in December of this past offseason and went 7-4 with a 3.88 ERA (44 ER, 102.0 IP) in 18 starts for Triple-A Tucson before having his contract selected by San Diego on July 12. Over parts of four Major League seasons with the Los Angeles Angels (2009-10), Kansas City Royals (2010-11) and Padres (2013), he has posted a 10-16 record with a 5.89 ERA (143 ER, 218.2 IP) and 103 strikeouts against 87 walks.
