Goldschmidt named finalist for NL MVP Award
Harper, Votto also in running for top honor
PHOENIX -- D-backs first baseman Paul Goldschmidt was named as one of the finalists for the National League Most Valuable Player Award, which is voted on by the Baseball Writers' Association of America.
The other finalists for the award are Nationals right fielder Bryce Harper and Reds first baseman Joey Votto.

Goldschmidt was the runner-up to the Pirates' Andrew McCutchen in the MVP voting in 2013.
Goldschmidt, 28, set career highs in 2015 in batting average (.321), on-base percentage (.435), slugging percentage (.570), on-base plus slugging (1.005), stolen bases (21) and walks.

It wasn't just at the plate where Goldschmidt's contributions were felt.
Winner of the Rawlings Gold Glove at first base, Goldschmidt led all first baseman in the Majors with defensive runs saved, a metric compiled by The Fielding Bible.
The NL MVP Award winner will be announced Thursday, Nov. 19, at 6 p.m. ET on MLB Network.
