Goldschmidt wins NL's Silver Slugger at first base

PHOENIX -- Another day, another award for D-backs first baseman Paul Goldschmidt, this one the second Silver Slugger Award of his career.

The award, presented by Louisville Slugger, is handed out annually to a player at each position in both leagues, with coaches and managers voting for who they feel were the best offensive producers that season.

This week alone, Goldschmidt was named a finalist for the Baseball Writers' Association of America's National League Most Valuable Player Award, earned his second Rawlings Gold Glove Award and won the Wilson Defensive Player of the Year at first base.

Previously, Goldschmidt had received the Fielding Bible Award at first base.

Goldschmidt, 28, who also won a Silver Slugger Award in 2013, became the first D-backs player to win the award multiple times.

Goldschmidt set career highs in 2015 in batting average (.321), on-base percentage (.435), slugging percentage (.570), OPS (1.005), stolen bases (21) and walks (118).

This past season, Goldschmidt ranked second in the NL in OPS, RBIs and times reached base, and he was third in batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, runs scored, walks, hits and total bases.
