Pending arbitration hearing won't distract Jansen

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Closer Kenley Jansen said he won't let a pending Feb. 18 salary arbitration hearing in Tampa distract him from preparing for the upcoming season.

"I'm not worried about it," said Jansen, who is seeking $5.05 million, with the Dodgers offering $3.5 million. "My agent, Adam Katz, is doing a good job with that, and I've got to do what I've got to do and focus on the season. I'm not stressing about it. I've got a job to do, to help the team win."

Jansen said he is continuing a more intense training regimen he adopted midway through the 2013 season, when he saved 28 games with a 1.88 ERA, appearing in 75 games.

The Dodgers have surrounded Jansen with four former closers -- Brian Wilson, Chris Perez, Brandon League and J.P. Howell. In the past, Jansen said he might have felt threatened, but not now.

"I know I can do the job," he said. "It's awesome being with those guys in a really deep bullpen. I have respect for all of them, I learn from all of them. Every team should know that we've got a stacked bullpen. But we've still got to play the games and win the games."
