Phils look to Camp to buoy bullpen

DENVER -- The Phillies continue to search for a quality mix for their bullpen.

Perhaps Shawn Camp can help.

"He's considered a long guy," Phillies manager Ryne Sandberg said Saturday at Coors Field. "He could be a guy that could save some arms down there, throwing strikes out of the bullpen."

The Phillies promoted Camp to the big leagues Friday night, optioning right-hander Jonathan Pettibone to Triple-A Lehigh Valley to make room for him on the 25-man roster. Camp led the big leagues with 80 appearances in 2012, but the Cubs released him following 26 appearances and a 7.04 ERA last season. He pitched well in Spring Training, but opened the season with the IronPigs.

"It feels good," Camp said. "It's an honor to be called up as always."
