Pirates and ServiceLink partner to support armed forces service men and women

The Pittsburgh Pirates have partnered with ServiceLink throughout the 2015 season to support families of United States service men and women who have lost their lives in action. For every Pirates save throughout the season, ServiceLink pledged to donate $500 to the Folded Flag Foundation.

As a team, the Pirates have converted 54 saves, the third-most in all of Major League Baseball as closer Mark Melancon has led the way with a league-leading 51 saves. On Friday, October 2 at PNC Park, ServiceLink and the Pirates will present a donation of $30,000 during a pregame on-field ceremony to the Folded Flag Foundation.

The Folded Flag Foundation provides scholarship and other educational grants to the spouses and children of the United States military and U.S. government personnel who have lost their lives as a result of hostile or terrorist action or as a result of a non-hostile event as defined by the Department of Defense.

"The mission of the Folded Flag Foundation is one of critical importance, and one which we can all appreciate," said Chris Azur, CEO, ServiceLink. "ServiceLink is proud to be a sponsor of the Folded Flag Foundation and truly honored to partner with the Pirates and make this donation, 100% of which will go directly to families in need."

In addition to the season-long program, ServiceLink is the presenting sponsor of Friday night's Fan Vote Free Shirt Friday, as the first 20,000 fans in PNC Park will receive a Pirates tee compliments of the premier national provider of transaction services to the mortgage and finance industries. Earlier in the season fans had the opportunity to vote on their favorite tee shirt design for the night's giveaway.
