Pirates announce details for Postseason ticket onsale

The Pittsburgh Pirates announced today that a limited number of tickets for possible National League Wild Card and Division Series games at PNC Park will go on sale to the general public on Wednesday, September 18, at 10 a.m. At that time, fans will have the opportunity to purchase a maximum of four tickets per person for the one possible Wild Card game and three possible Division Series games.

Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets online at pirates.com. Fans can also purchase tickets by calling 1-877-893-BUCS or by coming to the PNC Park Main Box Office. Tickets online and by phone will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis and all are subject to availability at that time.

Fans wishing to purchase tickets at the PNC Park Main Box Office may do so through a random numbered distribution system to determine ticket buyers' positions in line when tickets go on sale. The Pirates will distribute numbered wristbands on Federal Street near the PNC Park Main Ticket Office on:

  • Monday, September 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Tuesday, September 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Wednesday, September 18, from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.

Each fan who visits the distribution table will receive one specially designed, numbered wristband that will be attached to their wrist, and the matching number will be entered in a random drawing. Fans must be 12 years of age to receive a wristband, and only one per person will be distributed.

On Wednesday, September 18, at 9 a.m., the Pirates will randomly draw one number from the corresponding wristband numbers. The fan with the matching numbered wristband will be first in line. Fans will then line up in numerical order from that point. For example, if the number drawn is wristband number 500, that fan will be first in line. The fan with wristband number 501 will be next, followed by the fan with number 502, and so on. The fan with wristband number 499 would be the last person in line.

Wristbands do not guarantee a ticket, only a place in line to purchase tickets when they go on sale. Fans must be present at the time their number is to be served. Fans must keep the wristband on their wrists until they reach the ticket window in order to participate. Any wristband that is tampered with, damaged or removed will be invalid.

"Even with our growing number of season ticket holders, and many of them taking advantage of their ability to purchase additional Postseason tickets, we worked to ensure that we had a limited number of Postseason tickets available to the general public," said Frank Coonelly, Pirates President. "Our goal is to now release those tickets in the fairest way possible to ensure all of our fans have an equal opportunity to secure their tickets for what is sure to be an electric atmosphere at PNC Park."

The Pirates will announce ticket information and on sale details for possible subsequent Postseason rounds at a later date. Please visit pirates.com/postseason for complete details on Postseason tickets.
