Pirates prospect Glasnow continues strong season

Right-hander Tyler Glasnow, the Pirates' No. 3 prospect, struck out 10 batters in 5 2/3 scoreless innings Friday in Class A Advanced Bradenton's 2-1 win over Tampa.

Glasnow, ranked No. 23 on MLBPipeline.com's Top 100 Prospects list, allowed seven hits and one walk, but he found a way to keep the Yankees off the scoreboard. He threw 97 pitches as he posted a double-digit strikeout total for the second time this season.

With the victory, Glasnow improved to 5-4 with a 1.91 ERA. He has struck out 82 batters and walked 38 in 70 2/3 innings. Despite not making his season debut until April 25 because of a back injury he suffered during Spring Training and still not having thrown enough innings to qualify for the ERA title, he ranks fourth in the Florida State League in strikeouts.

Josh Bell, the Pirates' No. 6 prospect and No. 58 overall, scored a run and went 3-for-4 to lead the Marauders' offense. In 83 games this season, he is hitting .333/.380/.495 and ranks second in the league in batting average, slugging percentage and OPS.
