Pirates sign four more players from 2015 Draft

The Pittsburgh Pirates today signed the following players from the 2015 First-Year Player Draft. The announcement was made by Joe DelliCarri, Pirates Director of Amateur Scouting.


Round 2
Name: Kevin Kramer
Position: INF
Height/Weight: 6-1/190
Affiliate: UCLA
Assignment: West Virginia Black Bears
Hit .323 (82-for-254) with 14 doubles, two triples, seven home runs, 34 RBI and 55 runs scored as a red-shirt junior in 2015 with UCLA…Was also named a first-team All-Pac 12 selection in 2015 and was a Collegiate Baseball pre-season All-American…Ranked second in the Pac-12 in runs (55) and fourth in hits (82) while posting a career-high in batting average (.323) in 2015…His seven home runs in 2015 were tied for the team lead…Was the starting third baseman for UCLA's 2013 National Championship winning team…Started all 66 games for UCLA in 2013 at third base while earning honorable mention All-Pac 12 honors while finishing tied for third on the team with 68 hits.

Position: RHP
Height/Weight: 6-2/195
Affiliate: Harvard University
Assignment: Bristol Pirates
Went 0-4 with four saves and a 4.08 ERA in 13 games (six starts) as a senior at Harvard.

Name: Nicholas Economos
Position: RHP
Height/Weight: 6-6/215
Affiliate: Mercer County Comm. College
Assignment: Gulf Coast League Pirates
Was a first-team National Junior Collegiate Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 19 all-region first-team selection in 2015…Earned Garden State Athletic Conference first-team accolades after appearing in 10 games (nine starts) for Mercer County Community College (NJ) while posting a 7-0 record, 3.38 ERA and 70 strikeouts in 50.2 innings of work this season.

Position: RHP
Height/Weight: 6-4/190
Affiliate: Fairfield University
Assignment: Bristol Pirates
Was a first-team All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference selection in 2015…Tied for the conference lead with six complete games in 2015.
The Pirates have now signed nine players from this year's draft.
