Prince out again, won't travel to Detroit

ARLINGTON -- First baseman Prince Fielder and center fielder Leonys Martin weren't in the lineup again Wednesday against the Mariners.

The Rangers had planned for Fielder -- who had an injection for a herniated disc in his neck Friday -- to re-enter the lineup Tuesday after not playing Saturday or Sunday against the Blue Jays. Fielder also won't travel with the Rangers to Detroit after Wednesday's game for a four-game series against the Tigers, but could possibly rejoin them Thursday after seeing Dr. Drew Dossett. This will be his fourth consecutive game sidelined.

"He feels normal," said Rangers manager Ron Washington. "But he felt normal yesterday until he swung the bat."

Martin, who missed Tuesday's game because of stiffness in his neck, was still recovering Wednesday. Daniel Robertson, who was recalled Sunday from Triple-A Round Rock, played in the outfield and took over leadoff duties for the second day in a row. Martin was scheduled to lead off Tuesday.

"I don't feel ready to play," Martin said. "I don't want to go out there at 50 percent."

He added that if Wednesday's 1:05 p.m. game against the Mariners had been an evening matchup, he might have felt ready to play.
