Prospect Fuentes added to Futures roster

BOSTON -- As it turns out, the Padres will have three representatives playing in the Futures Game at Citi Field on July 14.

Outfielder Reymond Fuentes was added to the World roster on Tuesday as an injury replacement for Cubs outfield prospect Jorge Soler, who is on the disabled list with a stress fracture in his shin.

Fuentes is in the midst of his best season as a professional and will hope to improve on his previous Futures Game showing. He is hitting .332 with a .419 on-base percentage at Double-A San Antonio.

Fuentes, who grew up in Puerto Rico, will be making his second appearance in the Futures Game. He also appeared in the 2011 event, going 0-for-2 in the World team's 6-4 loss.

Fuentes joins fellow San Antonio outfielder Yeison Asencio on the World team, while catcher Austin Hedges is on the U.S. team.

The 15th annual SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game takes place at 2 p.m. ET on All-Star Sunday, July 14, at Citi Field in New York and can be seen live on MLB.com, ESPN2 and ESPN2 HD and followed live on MLB.com's Gameday.
