Prospect Johnson to undergo elbow operation

White Sox prospect Micah Johnson will have a procedure on Tuesday to reposition a nerve in his right elbow, ending his Arizona Fall League stint.

Johnson is expected to be ready for the start of Spring Training.

Johnson, the team's No. 15 prospect according to MLB.com's 2013 Prospect Watch, spent the 2013 regular season between Class A Kannapolis, Class A Advanced Winston-Salem and Double-A Birmingham. He combined to hit .312 with 24 doubles, 15 triples, seven homers, 84 stolen bases and 58 RBIs in 131 games.

The procedure will be performed by Dr. Mark Cohen, the White Sox hand/wrist/elbow specialist, at Midwest Orthopedic's Surgery Center in Chicago.

The operation is the same one the second baseman had while playing in college at Indiana, which caused him to miss the 2012 season there.
