Putz placed on DL with forearm tightness

D-backs recall right-handed reliever Marshall from Triple-A Reno

MILWAUKEE -- D-backs reliever J.J. Putz was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday and reliever Evan Marshall was recalled from Triple-A Reno.

Putz is experiencing right forearm tightness.

"It wasn't improving," manager Kirk Gibson said on Monday. "In San Diego it was bothering him more than it had been and it was trending the wrong way. We waited until today to see how he was. He came in today and it wasn't very good."

Marshall is 0-1 with a 0.54 ERA in 14 relief appearances with Reno this season. He has allowed only 10 hits and five walks while striking out 19 in 16 2/3 innings.

Gibson said Marshall will provide some help to the bullpen, which is expected to be without Randall Delgado and Trevor Cahill. Both relievers pitched Monday night against the Brewers.

The D-backs addressed that relief shortage Tuesday by also recalling right-hander Chase Anderson from Double-A Mobile and optioning right-hander Mike Bolsinger to Reno.
