Rangers' awards dinner to take place Jan. 24

ARLINGTON -- The Rangers are bringing back the Mid-Winter Banquet. Now known as the Dr Pepper Texas Rangers Award Dinner, the event will take place on Jan. 24 at the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center in Grapevine.

The Rangers are returning to a banquet-style format after a two-year experiment with a Hollywood-style awards show. Tickets, which cost $75 each, can be purchased at www.texasrangers.com/awards.

The dinner will honor the Rangers' award winners for 2013. The first was announced on Monday, when pitcher Martin Perez was selected as the Rookie of the Year. Still to be revealed are Player of the Year, Pitcher of the Year, the Jim Sundberg Community Achievement Award and the Harold McKinney Good Guy Award. The banquet will also feature past Rangers greats, including the winner of Mark Holtz Alumni Award, as well as the organization's top Minor League players in 2013.

Net proceeds will benefit the Texas Rangers Foundation. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. CT, and the dinner is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. The Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center is located at 1501 Gaylord Trail. The event will take place in the Texas Ballroom.
