Texas Rangers extend Player Development Contract with Triple-A Round Rock through 2018

ARLINGTON, Texas—The Texas Rangers today announced that the organization has extended its Player Development Contract with the Triple-A Round Rock Express of the Pacific Coast League through the 2018 season by adding an additional four years to the agreement.

The Rangers and Express entered into a four-year agreement for Round Rock to become Texas’ Triple-A affiliate in September 2010, effective for the 2011 season. The Express, who are owned by Ryan Sanders Baseball, finished with a 69-75 record in 2012 but had a 26-14 mark beginning July 26.

“We’re excited to solidify our relationship with the Rangers for the next six years,” Round Rock Express Founder and CEO Reid Ryan said. “The Rangers organization continues to be one of baseball’s best. Given the success of teams at lower levels within the organization this season, we know there will be a continuous stream of talent through Round Rock.”

This month, Texas has also completed PDC extensions with Low-A Hickory of the South Atlantic League and Short Season-A Spokane of the Northwest League, both through the 2014 season. The club’s affiliations with Double-A Frisco of the Texas League and High-A Myrtle Beach of the Carolina League currently both extend through 2014.
