Rangers place 3B Adrian Beltre on 15-day disabled list; add RHP Hector Noesi to active roster

Arlington, Texas - The Texas Rangers announced prior to today's game that the club has added right-handed pitcher Hector Noesi (#19) to the active roster. Noesi will be in uniform and available for the series finale against Houston. To make room on the 25-man roster for Noesi, the team has placed third baseman Adrian Beltre on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 9, with a strained left quadriceps muscle.

Noesi, 27, was acquired from the Seattle Mariners in a trade yesterday in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations. He was on the Mariners Opening Day roster and made 2 relief appearances, posting an 0-1 record while allowing 3 runs in 1.0 inning of work. His last outing was on April 3 at Oakland and he was designated for assignment on April 4. Noesi has a career 4-16 record with a 5.64 ERA (120 ER/191.1 IP) in 66 games/21 starts at the major league level for New York-AL (2011) and Seattle (2012-14).

Beltre has not played since making an early exit from a game on Tuesday at Boston with the quad injury. He is batting .286 with 3 doubles, no home runs, and 4 RBI in 8 games with Texas this season. The first date he would be eligible to return is April 24, which is an off day for the club.

The Rangers still have a full 40-man roster.
