Texas Rangers place RHP Alexi Ogando on 15-Day Disabled List; Recall RHP Josh Lindblom from Round Rock

The Texas Rangers today announced that right-handed pitcher Alexi Ogando has been placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 6, with right shoulder inflammation.

To replace Ogando, the Rangers have recalled right-handed pitcher Josh Lindblom (#25) from Triple-A Round Rock of the Pacific Coast League. Lindblom is in uniform for Sunday's game in Toronto and is the probable starter for Monday's game versus Cleveland if he is not used in relief today.

Lindblom, who turns 26 next Saturday, is 6-0 with a 2.04 ERA in 10 games/9 starts for the Express this season (57.1 IP, 38 H, 13 R-ER, 15 BB, 43 SO). He has the lowest ERA among Pacific Coast League qualifiers and is tied for 4^th in wins. Lindblom is 2-0, 2.18 (5 ER/20.2 IP) in his last 3 starts including a win over Nashville in his last outing on June 2 (7.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R-ER).

This will be his second stint with the Rangers in 2013. He was recalled on May 20 to start in place of the injured Alexi Ogando and lost to Oakland, 9-2 (4.2 IP, 7 H, 4 R-ER, 2 BB, 4 SO), returning to Round Rock the following day. Lindblom was 4-5, 3.31 in 101 relief appearances with the Dodgers and Phillies in 2011-2012 before being acquired by Texas in the Michael Young trade on December 9, 2012.

Ogando is 4-2 with a 2.93 ERA in 10 starts with Texas this season. He was previously on the 15-day DL from May 16-June 4 with right biceps tendinitis. In his only appearance since being activated, he had no decision in a start on June 5 in Boston (5.2 IP, 3 H, 1 R-ER, 3 BB, 6 SO, 92 pitches). Ogando had been scheduled to make his next start on Monday versus Cleveland but originally felt the discomfort while throwing a side session on Friday.
