Feliz to get extra work in the Dominican

The Rangers are sending pitcher Neftali Feliz to winter ball to make up for lost time.

Feliz is going to pitch for Toros del Este in the Dominican Republic. He'll be joined by Robbie Ross at the end of the month. Ross is also going to the Dominican to get extra work.

Feliz will be used as a reliever as the Rangers expect him back in the bullpen next season.

Feliz was activated off the disabled list at the beginning of September and pitched in just six games for a total of 4 2/3 innings. He pitched 10 2/3 innings in the Minors on a rehabilitation assignment after being sidelined for more than a year because of Tommy John surgery.

He could end up facing some of his Rangers teammates. Outfielders Engel Beltre and Leonys Martin and infielder Jurickson Profar are playing for Tigres del Licey in the Dominican Republic.
