Brinson among Rangers headed to Arizona Fall League

ARLINGTON -- Infielder Jurickson Profar and outfielders Lewis Brinson and Ryan Rua are among the Rangers listed to play for the Surprise Saguaros in the Arizona Fall League.

Profar has been absent from the Major Leagues for two years because of a torn muscle in his right shoulder. He is currently limited to designated-hitter duty on a medical rehab assignment at Class A Hickory. He is also on a throwing program and the Rangers are hoping he might be able to play in the infield a couple of times a week in Arizona.

Rua began the season as the Rangers Opening Day left fielder but missed two months with a fractured right heel. He only played in 25 games for the Rangers with 83 plate appearances so his assignment to the Arizona Fall League is to make up for lost time.

Brinson was the first pick (29th overall) in the 2012 Draft. He has combined to hit .322 with 19 home runs, 65 RBIs, 15 stolen bases and a .600 slugging percentage at three Minor League levels. He is also considered a premium defensive player.

The Rangers are also sending pitchers Sam Wolff, John Fasola, Adam Parks and Ryan Slack to Arizona. Wolff was a sixth-round Draft pick in 2013 who missed the entire season because of an Achilles injury.
