Rangers to open 2014 slate at home vs. Phils

The Rangers will begin the 2014 season with Interleague Play at the Ballpark in Arlington, according to the schedules released by Major League Baseball on Tuesday.

The Rangers will open the season at home on March 31 against the Phillies. It will be the first of a three-game series against the Phils, who will be making their trip to Arlington since Interleague Play began in 1997. Philadelphia visited Arlington in 2005 and '11. This will be the first time Texas has opened the season against a National League team.

The Rangers' first road trip will be April 4-6 (at Rays) and April 7-9 (at Red Sox). Texas then returns home for a 10-game homestand against the Astros, Mariners and White Sox. The Athletics' first trip to Arlington is April 28-30.

The Rangers will also host the Rockies on May 7-8, the Marlins on June 10-11 and the Braves on Sept 12-14. Texas' road games during Interleague Play include the Rockies on May 5-6, Nationals on May 30-June 1, the Mets on July 4-6 and the Marlins on Aug. 19-20. The Rockies replace the D-backs as the Rangers' NL West home-and-home matchup.

The Red Sox will make their only appearance in Arlington on May 9-11. The Tigers will visit June 24-26 and the Yankees on July 28-30. The Rangers' final four home games are against the Athletics on Sept. 25-28.
