Rays clash with O's cancelled due to rain

SARASOTA, Fla. -- The Orioles-Rays game on Thursday afternoon was cancelled due to inclement weather, and the contest will not be made up.

Baltimore is coming off a pair of road night games, and it was unknown how much the rainout would alter the club's pitching schedule, starter Miguel Gonzalez in particular. Rays ace David Price, who was originally scheduled to pitch against the O's, threw a simulated game in Port Charlotte, Fla., instead.

Up next: Alex Cobb will make his second start of the spring when the Rays travel to Dunedin to meet the Blue Jays on Friday at 1:05 p.m. ET. The right-hander faced the Twins on March 2, allowing two hits and striking out three in 1 2/3 innings. Also scheduled to see action are right-handers Brandon Gomes and Matt Andriese. Right-hander Drew Hutchison will start for the Blue Jays.
