Moore throws bullpen session without issues
Rays starter is set for next rehab start Monday or Tuesday
SEATTLE -- Matt Moore threw a bullpen session Friday and everything went well.
The left-hander, who is in the final stretches of his rehab from Tommy John surgery, is scheduled to make his next start on Monday or Tuesday for Class A Advanced Charlotte of the Florida State League.
Rays manager Kevin Cash explained that head athletic trainer Ron Porterfield, who is in charge of Moore's schedule, will occasionally insert an extra rest day between one of a recovering pitcher's starts.
"So that could come here," Cash said.
On Wednesday, Moore made his first rehab start since having his surgery on April 22, 2014. He therw 52 pitches in 2 1/3 innings, allowing two runs -- both unearned -- on two hits and three walks, while striking out two for Charlotte.
Moore's start was limited to just three innings or 50 pitches so Cash speculated that he will throw 60 to 65 pitches in his next outing.
