Rays' Snell stretches 2015 scoreless streak to 33

Tampa Bay's No. 10 prospect fires six shutout frames for Double-A Montgomery

Six more zeroes.

Blake Snell, the No. 10 prospect on Tamp Bay's Top 30 Prospects list, threw six shutout frames for Double-A Montgomery on Thursday, giving him 33 consecutive scoreless innings to start the season. The left-hander also didn't allow a run in his final three innings of 2014, for an overall streak of 36.

Snell, 22, gave up three hits and struck out eight batters Thursday in an 8-7 victory over Birmingham, his second start for the Biscuits since being promoted from Class A Advanced Charlotte. The 52nd overall pick in the 2011 Draft, Snell has given up just 14 hits this season, and he's struck out 43 batters. He has walked 14 and has a 0.85 WHIP and .127 opponents average.

Snell pitched for two Class A teams last season, posting an 8-8 record and a 3.19 ERA combined between his stops at Charlotte and Class A Bowling Green. For his Minor League career, he's managed a 22-20 record and a 3.02 ERA in 75 games, 70 of them starts.
