Recent slide leads to individual meetings with players

SEATTLE -- Both Tyler Flowers and Adam Dunn confirmed Monday that they had individual player meetings with manager Robin Ventura, where concerns were voiced or addressed. It's safe to say that these two are not the only ones invited to these chats, discussed by general manager Rick Hahn during a Sunday morning interview on WSCR 670-AM.

"We just talked to different people all the time. You're not blaming anybody for anything," Ventura said. "It's just making sure everyone is still doing what they need to do.

"Just individual stuff that I want to clear up. When we bring people in, you're making sure you're very clear on what we need to get done and how we're going to do it."

Flowers was asked if his meeting involved just Ventura and Hahn or more people, to which Flowers responded, "more." The catcher added that his individual meeting was to get everyone on the same page offensively.

"Kind of have everyone's input and kind of pick what we're going with and that's what we're going to ride out, which is fine," Flowers said. "I feel like I've changed a number of things over the course of the year and not necessarily giving a couple of different approaches a chance for a long stretch. That's the gist of it: let's pick something we all agree on that looks good, will compete and ride that out for the rest of the year and see what happens."

The overall tone of the meetings was positive, but still not something that Ventura wants to do.

"They're not fun," Ventura said. "Nobody wants to do these meetings, but when you're in a situation like this, it's necessary. I'm the guy who needs to do that."

"We've had our meetings, but there's only so much that can be said," Dunn said. "I think everyone in here knows what needs to be done. It's just not getting done."
