Reds claim Beato; Miller, Reynolds free agents
CINCINNATI -- The Reds made three roster moves on Thursday, including the claiming of right-handed reliever Pedro Beato off of waivers from the Red Sox. Catcher Corky Miller and right-handed starting pitcher Greg Reynolds were outrighted by the Reds and elected free agency.
Beato, 27, was 1-1 with a 3.60 ERA in 10 appearances this season for Boston and had a 2.98 ERA in 34 games with Triple-A Pawtucket. In 2006, he was a first-round Draft pick of the Orioles.
Added to Cincinnati's 40-man roster, Beato has 81 career relief appearances in the Majors for the Mets and Red Sox.
A longtime member of the organization, the 37-year-old Miller batted .257 in 17 games with the Reds this season -- his first time up in the big leagues since 2010.
Reynolds, 28, was 1-3 with a 5.52 ERA in six games, including five starts for the Reds over a pair of call-ups. In 23 games, including 21 starts, for Triple-A Louisville, he was 12-3 with a 2.42 ERA.
