Red Sox's DP combo in mix for ASG spots

Dustin Pedroia, the fiery leader of the Red Sox, is in fifth place at his position in the latest All-Star Game voting update, which was released on Monday. Fans can cast their votes for starters at MLB.com and all 30 club sites -- on their computers, tablets and smartphones -- using the 2015 Esurance MLB All-Star Game Ballot until Thursday, July 2, at 11:59 p.m. ET. For the first time, voting is exclusively online, where fans may submit up to 35 ballots.

Pedroia vowed back in January that his power would return after he healed from several injuries to his right hand. The second baseman has backed up his words, already having equaled his seven home runs from last season. Pedroia has 503,821 votes, trailing Houston's Jose Altuve, Kansas City's Omar Infante, Detroit's Ian Kinsler and Cleveland's Jason Kipnis.

Pedroia's double-play partner, shortstop Xander Bogaerts, has moved up to fifth place at his position with 327,682 votes. K.C.'s Alcides Escobar, Detroit's Jose Iglesias, Oakland's Marcus Semien and Houston's Jed Lowrie are the top four at shortstop.

Pablo Sandoval, in his first year with the Red Sox, is currently third at the hot corner with 483,807 votes. Sandoval, a three-time All-Star, trails the Royals' Mike Moustakas and the Blue Jays' Josh Donaldson.

Slugger David Ortiz, vying for his 10th All-Star appearance, is fourth at designated hitter with 507,712 votes. Seattle's Nelson Cruz, K.C.'s Kendrys Morales and the Yankees' Alex Rodriguez are ahead of Ortiz.

Hanley Ramirez, who cooled off after a monster April, is 11th among outfielders.
