Victorino plays for Class A, could be activated Friday

Shane Victorino was back on the field at Fenway Park on Sunday for the ninth annual Futures at Fenway game, along with his teammates at short-season Class A Lowell.

Victorino played five innings, going 0-for-2 with a walk, as he continues to rehab from hamstring and back injuries. He's 0-for-6 in his rehab assignment for Lowell, and manager John Farrell said Victorino could be back with the Red Sox as early as Friday.

Kevin McAvoy started the game, a 6-1 loss to Mahoning Valley, by throwing two scoreless innings before Simon Mercedes added another five shutout frames. James Shepherd got the loss, giving up four runs in 1 2/3 innings.

Danny Mars, Jordan Betts and Mauricio Dubon each had two hits for Lowell. The only other Spinners player to record a hit was Mike Meyers.
