Red Sox players, officials to engage in community efforts during final homestand of the season

BOSTON, MA - The Red Sox Foundation and the club's Community Relations Department today begin six days of charitable events and programs. The Red Sox play the final games of the regular season against the Tampa Bay Rays and New York Yankees during a homestand that begins tonight and concludes September 28.

Salute to Educators and Season Ticket Holders, Tuesday, September 23

The Red Sox will pay tribute to educators and season ticket holders during tonight's pregame ceremony. Education honorees participating in the tribute include members of City Year, the Massachusetts and Greater Boston YMCAs, and Camp Harborview operated by the Girls and Boys Club of Boston. The Red Sox will also celebrate season ticket holders by having a representative of that group throw out the ceremonial first pitch, sing the national anthem, and say "play ball."

RBI Essay Contest Winners, Tuesday, September 23

Two Red Sox Foundation RBI Program teens, Isobel Healy of Brighton and Alexander Quiles of Mission Hill, will be recognized during a pregame ceremony for winning this year's KPMG Essay Contest. The contest asks all RBI Program participants to write an essay describing the qualities they admire about Jackie Robinson or Roberto Clemente, and how these qualities have played a part in their own lives. The two winners will receive laptops, courtesy of KPMG. 

Man of the Year, Wednesday, Tuesday, September 24

Red Sox Assistant Hitting Coach Victor Rodriguez will be honored with the "Man of the Year" award, an award given by the Red Sox' official booster club recognizing a player for their efforts on the field and in the community. Rodriguez will be recognized during the BoSox Club's annual award luncheon taking place at the Hilton in Dedham, MA, at 11:30 a.m.

Napoli's Bearded Bunch, Wednesday, September 24

Mike Napoli will host and meet with patients and families from Boston Children's Hospital before the Red Sox-Rays game as part of his "Bearded Bunch" program for kids who are being treated at this facility.

On Field Photo Day, Wednesday, September 24

Fans will have an opportunity to take photos with many of the current Red Sox players on the field before the game. Fenway Park gates will open at 5:10 p.m. Fans will have an opportunity to take photos on the field from 5:20 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Players at the Gates, Thursday, September 25

Players will greet fans at select gates from 5:45-6:15 p.m. before the Red Sox-Rays game on Thursday, September 25. The player welcome is part of Fan Appreciation Month at Fenway Park.

9 Giveaways in 9 Innings, Tuesday, September 23 and Thursday, September 25

On September 23 and 25, the Red Sox will present 9 different giveaways throughout the game as part of Fan Appreciation Month at Fenway Park. Items include miniature Carl Yastrzemski statues as well as prizes from Dunkin Donuts, New Balance, Aramark, Corn & Co, Remy's, and JetBlue.

Make-A-Wish, Friday, September 26

Jordan Nachtegaele, a 17-year-old with leukemia from Lake Jackson, Texas, will be visiting Fenway Park fulfilling his wish to meet Dustin Pedroia. The club routinely partners with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to make such dreams come true.

Breslow to be Honored, Friday, September 26

Red Sox left-handed pitcher Craig Breslow will be honored during a pregame ceremony at Fenway Park for his Roberto Clemente Award nomination. The annual award recognizes players that best represent baseball through positive contributions on and off the field.
