Reds Draft pick Felt in critical condition

Mason Felt, the Reds' fifth-round pick in the 2012 Draft, was critically injured in a one-car accident on Saturday morning outside of Ozona, Texas.

According to a report from the San Angelo Standard-Times, Felt, 18, was driving his truck a little after 10 a.m. on Interstate 10 and began drifting toward the shoulder and then overcorrected the vehicle, causing it to cross over both lanes of traffic before flipping over.

Felt is considered to be in critical but stable condition, but his father, Richard Felt, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Standard-Times report.

Mason Felt is a left-handed pitcher out of Hoschton, Ga., who signed with the Reds in favor of playing baseball at Oregon State, according to a Yahoo! report. His father, Richard, played five seasons with the Dodgers organization in the 1980s, according to the report.

According to Reds director of media relations Rob Butcher, the team's player-development department and Minor League medical staff have been in contact with the local hospital, the San Angelo Police Department and Mason's mother -- who arrived at the hospital on Sunday -- since the accident.
