Reds infielders rank in Top 5, need ASG votes

Frazier third among third basemen, with plenty of ground to make up

CINCINNATI -- Some of the hometown Reds have a chance of cracking the starting lineup when the All-Star Game returns to the Queen City this summer. First baseman Joey Votto, second baseman Brandon Phillips, shortstop Zack Cozart and third baseman Todd Frazier are all listed in the top five of their positions after the first round of voting. Fans can cast their votes through the 2015 Esurance MLB All-Star Game Ballot.

Frazier is the highest-ranked Red, sitting in third place behind the Cardinals' Matt Carpenter and the Cubs' Kris Bryant at third base. However, Frazier -- who clubbed his 14th home run during the Reds' 6-4 loss to the Rockies on Wednesday -- has ground to make up, with 424,035 votes compared to Carpenter's 1,113,060.

Votto rounds out the pack, currently in fifth place at first base with 384,285 votes. Adrian Gonzalez of the Dodgers leads the voting with 929,016.

Cozart is looking for his first All-Star Game appearance, while Frazier was selected to his first career All-Star Game last season. Phillips is a three-time NL All-Star, and Votto is a four-time NL All-Star.
