Reds ink versatile Dominguez to Minor League deal

CINCINNATI -- The Reds signed infielder Chris Dominguez to a Minor League deal on Wednesday and invited him to big league camp at Spring Training.

Dominguez, 28, has played third base, first base, shortstop and the outfield for the Giants organization since he was a third-round Draft pick in 2009 out of the University of Louisville.

In 131 games last season for Triple-A Fresno, Dominguez batted .274/.307/.460 with 21 home runs, 23 doubles, 85 RBIs and 21 steals. Over his six seasons in the Minors, he is a .271/.311/.439 hitter.

Dominguez made his big league debut in 2014, going 1-for-17 with a home run and two RBIs in eight games with the Giants.

Cincinnati is now slated to have 63 players on its Spring Training roster before pitchers and catchers report on Feb. 18. The full squad is due to report on Feb. 23.
