Reds' series opener vs. White Sox postponed
CHICAGO -- Because of showers in the area Friday night, the Reds' three-game series opener vs. the White Sox was postponed following a 32-minute delay. The game will be made up as part of a straight doubleheader to be played on Saturday.
Game 1 will start at 4:10 p.m. ET, with Game 2 scheduled to begin 30 minutes following the conclusion of the first game. The second game will begin no sooner than its originally scheduled 7:10 p.m. start.
Reds ace Johnny Cueto, who was slated to start Saturday, will start Game 1 vs. Chicago's Hector Noesi. Friday's original starter for the Reds, Jason Marquis, is now scheduled for Game 2 against Carlos Rodon, who will be making his first Major League start.
The Reds last played a traditional doubleheader on July 23, 2013, vs. the Giants at AT&T Park. One of the games was a makeup for a rainout that happened earlier in the month in Cincinnati.
Last season, the Reds played three day-night doubleheaders.
There have been nine hours, eight minutes of rain delays for the Reds this season, covering five games. This is the second rainout for Cincinnati in 2015.
