Review: Zim's shot a 'garden' variety homer

WASHINGTON -- The Nationals were able to get a call overturned in their favor during Saturday's 8-6 victory over the Braves on one of Washington's three home runs on the day.

With runners on first and second in the fifth inning, it looked like Ryan Zimmerman hit a double to left field off right-hander Julio Teheran that plated just Jayson Werth.

But manager Matt Williams insisted that the ball went over the fence for a three-run homer. The umpires decided to look at the replay, and after one minute and 57 seconds, the call was overturned and Zimmerman had his third homer of the season.

The replay showed the ball went over the fence and into the flower garden before bouncing back on to the field.

"I'm glad I didn't get robbed. It's nice to have a real hit and be rewarded for it," Zimmerman said.
