Reyes out of lineup due to tight left hamstring

TAMPA, Fla. -- Shortstop Jose Reyes was held out of the Blue Jays' lineup on Sunday afternoon as he remains day to day with a tight left hamstring.

Reyes suffered the injury during Saturday afternoon's game against the Tigers. It has been described by the club as being a minor ailment, and he's not expected to miss a significant period of time.

The fear is that the discomfort could linger, but as of now it seems like a normal amount of tightness that happens with a lot of players towards the end of a long Spring Training.

"He feels a little better," Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said on Sunday morning. "We still don't think it's a big deal. Day to day."

Reyes has dealt with hamstring issues in the past. In 2011, Reyes had two stints on the disabled list and missed a total of 29 games with a left hamstring issue. He also had a much more severe problem in 2004 when the All-Star shortstop missed 66 games due to a right hamstring injury.

The 30-year-old is hitting .255 in 17 games this spring. He also has three doubles and five runs scored to go with three walks.
