Cubs, Marlins exchange successful challenges

CHICAGO -- A successful instant replay challenge was part of a hairy ninth inning for the Cubs on Friday afternoon at Wrigley Field.

With the bases loaded and the Cubs leading the Marlins, 3-0, with one out in the top of the ninth, Miami's Justin Bour hit a chopper to Anthony Rizzo at first. Rizzo fielded the ball and underhanded the ball to closer Hector Rondon at first base, who initially appeared to miss the base as Bour was called safe by first-base umpire Tony Randazzo.

Cubs manager Rick Renteria challenged the call, which was overturned after a review of two minutes and 55 seconds.

Miami went on to tie the game later in the inning.

In the 10th, it was the Marlins' turn to get a ruling overturned. Again, Randazzo was the umpire.

With two outs in the inning, Casey McGehee lifted a fly to right field. Nate Schierholtz made a terrific running play, extending and trapping the ball. Initially, Randazzo felt the right fielder made the play.

Miami manager Mike Redmond challenged, and the play was overturned after a review of one minute, 35 seconds.
