Rockies add Mike McKenry to Major League roster

SCOTTSDALE - The Colorado Rockies announced today that the club has selected the contract of catcher Mike McKenry to the Major League roster.

McKenry, 28, signed a Minor League contract with Colorado on January 16th, marking a return to the organization. He was originally selected by Colorado in the 7th round of the 2006 First-Year Player Draft. McKenry has spent each of the last three seasons (since 2011) in the Majors with the Pittsburgh Pirates and has appeared in the Major Leagues in each season since 2010 with Colorado (2010) and Pittsburgh (2011-13). In 193 career Major League games, the Knoxville, TN native has hit .223 (121-for-543) with 32 doubles, 17 home runs and 64 RBI. McKenry set career-highs in games (88), doubles (14), home runs (12) and RBI (39) for the Pirates in 2012.

The Rockies have a full 40-man roster.
