Rockies call for caution, aid during Colorado floods
PHOENIX -- An incessant storm that has pelted the Denver area all week with rain and hail, causing wide-spread flooding, led the Rockies management to issue a statement on Saturday urging residents to exercise caution.
"The images emerging from Colorado the past few days are a terrifying reminder of how quickly our communities can be overwhelmed," club owner, chairman and chief executive Dick Monfort said. "We are deeply saddened by the deaths and destruction caused by the horrific floods, and are so concerned for the residents of those communities, their families, their homes and their businesses. Our hearts and prayers go out to everyone that has been affected."
The Rockies asked fans to join with the State of Colorado and the affected communities to make a donation in support of the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund by visiting http://www.redcross.org, by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS or by texting the word REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation.
