CarGo starts Monday after tweaking knee
CINCINNATI -- Rockies manager Walt Weiss checked the condition of left fielder Carlos Gonzalez's right knee before writing his name in the lineup on Monday.
Gonzalez tweaked the knee during his at-bat in the sixth inning of Sunday's 7-2 victory over the Dodgers at Coors Field. Weiss removed him before the top of the eighth, because Gonzalez was resting on the bat between pitches and the manager wondered if he was OK. Additionally, the ball bounced away from the catcher when Gonzalez struck out, and he had a shot at taking first base, but he didn't appear healthy enough to run full-speed.
Weiss didn't commit to starting Gonzalez on Monday against the Reds until checking his condition.
In his first at-bat, Gonzalez knocked a bunt single.
