Hundley sidelined by stiff neck

DENVER -- Rockies catcher Nick Hundley left Sunday's 7-4 loss to the Giants with neck stiffness. He is listed as day to day.

Hundley said his neck locked up after fouling off a pitch during his second at-bat, in the fourth inning. He grounded out and caught the top of the fifth before being replaced by Dustin Garneau to start the sixth.

"I went out in the fifth inning and couldn't really look side to side or up," Hundley said. "Took some swings in the cage [in the bottom of the fifth], and [head athletic trainer Keith Dugger] determined it wasn't going to do us any good for me to keep going today."

Hundley said he got extensive treatment and hopes to be ready go in the next couple of days. The Rockies open up their 10-game road trip on Monday in San Diego.

"They called it a cervical strain," Hundley said. "My neck's been good. Just one of those things where I maybe took a weird swing or something. Not exactly sure how or why it happened."
