DENVER - The Colorado Rockies announced today that the club has recalled infielder DJ LeMahieu and right-handed pitcher Rob Scahill from Triple-A Colorado Springs. The Rockies also placed left-handed pitcher Jeff Francis on the 15-day disabled list with a left groin strain. Additionally, the Rockies have designated infielder Reid Brignac for assignment. LeMahieu (#9) and Scahill (#62) will be available for tonight's Rockies vs. Giants game at Coors Field (6:40 p.m. MDT).

LeMahieu, 24, began the 2013 season at Triple-A Colorado Springs and batted .364 (52-for-143) with 8 doubles, 5 triples, 1 home run, 22 RBI and 34 runs scored in 33 games. The right-handed batter played in 81 games for the Rockies in 2012, batting .297 (68-for-229) with 12 doubles, 4 triples, 2 home runs, 22 RBI and 26 runs scored. This will mark LeMahieu's third season appearing in the Major Leagues (Chicago Cubs in 2011, Colorado in 2012), and he is a career .287 (83-for-289) hitter with 14 doubles, 4 triples, 2 home runs and 26 RBI in 118 games. LeMahieu already posted a 20-game hitting streak for the Triple-A Sky Sox, the longest hitting streak in the Pacific Coast League this season. His .364 batting average ranks 7th in the PCL, while his 34 runs scored ranks 2nd.

Scahill, 26, will be making his second stint with the Rockies this year after being recalled on April 21 and making one appearance on April 23 against Atlanta in Game One of the doubleheader. He pitched three scoreless innings and allowed just one hit, no walks and struck out two. Scahill began the season with Triple-A Colorado Springs and has made 11 relief appearances going 2-0 with a 5.40 ERA (26.2 ip, 16 er) and one save. Nine of his 11 appearances have been two innings or longer. The Illinois native pitched in six games with Colorado last season with a 1.04 ERA (8.2 ip, 1 er) and not receiving a decision but finished three games. Scahill was an eighth round selection in the 2009 June Draft out of Bradley University.

Francis, 32, began the season on the Rockies Opening Day roster and has gone 2-3 with a 6.00 ERA (36.0 ip, 24 er), 14 walks and 31 strikeouts in eight starts. Francis is in his ninth Major League season, having pitched for Colorado (2004-10, 2012-13) and Kansas City (2011). He is 69-76 with a 4.89 ERA (1214.2 ip, 660 er) in 213 games/212 starts in the Big Leagues. His 63 career wins and 1,031.2 career innings pitched as a Rockie both rank as the second-most in franchise history.

Brignac, 27, was acquired by Colorado from Tampa Bay during Spring Training on February 14th, 2013, and was a member of the Rockies active roster to begin the season. In 29 games this season he has batted .250 (12-for-48) with 3 doubles, 1 home run, 6 RBI and 4 runs scored. The 2013 season marks Brignac's sixth to spend time in the Major Leagues, as he saw time with Tampa Bay in each of the last five seasons (2008-12). He is a career .228 (164-for-719) Major League hitter with 28 doubles, 3 triples, 11 home runs and 73 RBI in 285 games.
