Rockies' successful challenge reverses Panda's homer

Fly ball to left-field stands ruled foul after umpires' video review

DENVER -- A replay challenge by Rockies manager Walt Weiss was successful Thursday afternoon, when what was thought to be a home run by the Giants' Pablo Sandoval was overturned with one out in the top of the second inning at Coors Field.

Sandoval's drive to left field with one out, against Rockies pitcher Jorge De La Rosa, was called a homer, but Weiss issued his challenge after Sandoval, who had stopped on his way to first, had rounded the bases.

But replays in the stadium showed that the ball went just to the outside of the left-field foul pole. It was ruled a foul ball and the count was restored at 0-2. The at-bat ended with a fly ball to center field for the second out of the inning, keeping the game scoreless and improving Weiss to 6-for-11 in replay challenges.
