Ross disappointed, but ready for bullpen

ARLINGTON -- The Rangers announced Tuesday that pitcher Robbie Ross Jr. would shift from a starter to a reliever, and that Scott Baker would enter the rotation.

Ross started nine games this season for the Rangers with a 1-4 record and a 4.78 ERA. He spoke Wednesday about his new role.

"I got nine starts and out of those nine I could've at least had four or five that were really decent to the point where it was like 'OK yeah I can do it,''' Ross said. "But the ones that I did have, they weren't convincing."

Ross should be available out of the bullpen today against the Mariners. His last start was Saturday against the Blue Jays, and he said his main priority as a reliever is to get his focus back.

"It's obviously a challenge -- you are disappointed because [starting is] always something you wanted to do," Ross said. "It is disappointing but I've just got to get over it and get out there … you obviously never know what can happen so I'm just going to try to battle and work hard out there."
