Royals Charities Kids Holiday Party set for Tuesday

Club Also Supports Johnson County Christmas Bureau, Cops and Kids Events this Holiday Season

KANSAS CITY, MO (December 2, 2013) - The Kansas City Royals and Royals Charities will be involved in a number of holiday activities this week, beginning with the Royals Charities Kids Holiday Party set for Tuesday, December 3 at Kauffman Stadium.
 
ROYALS CHARITIES KIDS HOLIDAY PARTY - Tuesday, December 3
During the fifth annual party, which is scheduled for 4-6 p.m. in the Kia Diamond Club, Royals Charities will host children from four area organizations - Della Lamb, El Centro, Inc., Niles Home and Operation Breakthrough. These children will participate in holiday-themed activities such as decorating cookies and making ornaments. In addition, each child will receive a gift from Santa Claus and Sluggerrr Claus purchased by Royals associates and leave with a stocking full of goodies. The gift may be the only present that they receive this holiday season.

The holiday party is a private event for the select children from the four charitable organizations. Media members wishing to cover the event should enter Kauffman Stadium at Home Plate Gate C.
 
JOHNSON COUNTY CHRISTMAS BUREAU HOLIDAY SHOP - Friday, December 6
Sluggerrr will join Royals associates in distributing food, winter clothing and holiday gifts beginning at 2 p.m. at the Johnson County Christmas Bureau Holiday Shop, located at the former Marshalls store in the northeast corner of the Great Mall of the Great Plains (20090 West 151st Street in Olathe, Kan.).

The Johnson County Christmas Bureau is a volunteer, non-profit organization and United Way agency created in 1960 that provides necessary assistance to low-income families of Johnson County, Kansas. Qualified low-income families and individuals are scheduled by appointment and assisted by a volunteer during one of the nine days of the Holiday Shop to select groceries, toys, gifts, personal care items and clothing for their families. The Holiday Shop was established in 1977.

More than 3,400 families and 640 nursing home residents were served by the Holiday Shop in 2012.

COPS AND KIDS - Saturday, December 14
In addition, the Royals will once again support the Topeka (Kan.) Police Department's Cops and Kids event on Saturday, December 14. Police officers will be paired with children from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Topeka to help them with their holiday shopping beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the WalMart located at 1501 SW Wanamaker Road in Topeka. Sluggerrr will make a special appearance to visit the children at the store from 8:30-9:30 a.m. The cops will then assist members of TARC in their shopping efforts beginning at 11 a.m. at the WalMart located at 2600 NW Rochester Road in Topeka.
