Royals extend radio deal through '19
Royals fans will not have to search the radio for the reigning World Series champions next season. On Wednesday, the team announced that it has reached a new four-year pact with 610 Sports Radio, keeping the station the familiar home of Kansas City's games.
The new pact extends through the 2019 season and will include all 162 of the Royals' regular-season games, plus any additional postseason contests. At least 20 Cactus League games will also be aired on 610 Sports Radio, a member of the Entercom Communications Corporation, during Spring Training.
"We not only take a lot of pride in what occurs on the playing field," Kevin Uhlich, the Royals' senior vice president of business operations said in a release, "but also who partners with us off the field and at the end of the day our organization has been very pleased with the Entercom partnership, specifically 610 Sports Radio, over the last eight seasons. It was only natural for us to maintain that relationship.
"Not only is the signal of 610 Sports Radio recognizable to all sports fans in the area, the overall Entercom cluster of stations makes them an attractive partner to spread the word about Royals' baseball, not only to sports fans, but radio listeners of all genres."
The financial details of the new partnership were not disclosed.
Part of the new agreement was also to have the weekly "Royals Hot Stove" show aired from January through March. Dates and times of the spring broadcasts, along with the Hot Stove show, will be announced at a later date.
"We are delighted to extend this partnership," Dave Alpert, vice president and general manager of Entercom Kansas City, said in a statement. "Not only are the Royals the world champions, as partners they are a world class organization. We are proud to align KCSP 610 Sports Radio with the Kansas City Royals for four more years."
