Shirts Off Their Backs Highlights Homestand

KANSAS CITY, MO (May 14, 2015) - The Kansas City Royals return home for an eight-game homestand against the New York Yankees (May 15-17), Cincinnati Reds (May 19-20) and St. Louis Cardinals (May 22-24). The Royals Charities event, Shirts Off Their Backs, will occur on May 16 when the club hosts the Yankees. Please see below for more details.

Friday, May 15 - New York Yankees vs. Royals, 7:10 p.m.

  • KU Health Awareness Night - The Royals and The University of Kansas Hospital are proud to partner to bring Stroke Awareness Night to Kauffman Stadium. Learn about the warning signs and steps that should be taken when someone is having a stroke. Honorees associated with the initiative will take part in the first pitch ceremony and the Buck O'Neil Legacy Seat program.
  • Royals Charities and MLBPAA Concourse Auction - Royals Charities and the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association host a silent auction near Guest Services on the main concourse from the time the gates open until the end of the sixth inning. Unique auctions will take place during each game of this series.

Saturday, May 16 - New York Yankees vs. Royals, 6:10 p.m.

  • Shirts Off Their Backs -Royals Charities will host its annual Shirts Off Their Backs fundraiser benefitting Royals Charities and the organization known as HappyBottoms, which provides diapers to families in need. Throughout the game, volunteers will sell $1 instant-win scratch tickets with winners receiving an autographed jersey right off the back of their favorite Royals player or coach on the field following the game. www.royals.com/shirtsofftheirbacks.
  • Royals Charities and MLBPAA Concourse Auction - Royals Charities and the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association host a silent auction near Guest Services on the main concourse from the time the gates open until the end of the sixth inning.   • Royals Charities and MLBPAA Concourse Auction - Royals Charities and the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association host a silent auction near Guest Services on the main concourse from the time the gates open until the end of the sixth inning.   • Covering the Bases - FOX Sports Kansas City joins the Royals to host the Bombers youth baseball team from Shawnee, Kan., in an instructional clinic from Royals first base coach Rusty Kuntz and a Royals player. The clinic starts at approximately 2 p.m. at the Little K. Covering the Bases allows youth teams ages 9 to 13 to be nominated to participate in the clinic, which will be edited and broadcast as part of the Hy-Vee Royals Live pre-game show on FOX Sports Kansas City.   • Breast Cancer Awareness - The Royals will host Komen Kansas City Night to recognize breast cancer survivors, including the Major League Baseball Honorary Batgirl Michelle Mueller-Hinton from Grain Valley, Mo. She will be recognized during a special pre-game presentation and in the Buck O'Neil Legacy Seat. The organization will also host a silent auction and distribute information outside the Royals Charities Headquarters.   • Hosmer hosts Big Brothers Big Sisters - Eric Hosmer will host 30 participants from the Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Greater Kansas City program. The first baseman will meet the group before the game.
  • Dream Factory - Throughout the season, the Royals grant the wishes of Dream Factory children. These youngsters, who face life-altering challenges, will meet Royals players, watch batting practice from the dugout and enjoy the game and refreshments. Their Royals experience appears on the KMBC-TV (Channel 9) 10 p.m. newscast.
  • 50/50 Raffle presented by Edelman & Thompson - A portion of the proceeds from the nightly Royals Charities fundraiser will benefit Susan G. Komen Greater Kansas City. www.royals.com/5050

Friday, May 22 - St. Louis Cardinals vs. Royals, 7:10 p.m.

  • Moose Lodge - Third baseman Mike Moustakas, together with the Royals and KCP&L, will host foster care children and their families in the Moose Lodge. Each child from KVC Health Systems will receive complimentary tickets in section 206, a "Moose Lodge" t-shirt and a free meal courtesy of ARAMARK and Papa John's Pizza. The special guests will also participate in a meet-and-greet with Moustakas before the game. Later that night, Royals Charities will present KVC with a $25,000 grant for its Interactive Child-Parent Therapy Program.
