Royals Minor League Report: May 12

Royals Minor League Report: May 12

Omaha Storm Chasers (24-13)

Omaha 10, Fresno 1
WP: Everett Teaford (2-0)
HR: Tony Abreu (4)

Omaha put crooked numbers on the board in three separate innings to take the series opener in Fresno. Tony Abreu keyed a four-run fourth with a two-run home run. Omaha added two in the sixth and four more in the eighth to ice it. The runs backed the sensational pitching of lefty Everett Teaford, who posted 6.0 scoreless innings. Teaford's ERA stands at 1.06 after 17.0 innings (2 ER). David Lough (4-for-5), Max Ramirez (3-for-5) and Anthony Seratelli (3-for-5) led the Chasers on offense. Lough was a homer shy of the cycle.

NW Arkansas Naturals (18-17)

Springfield 3, NW Arkansas 2
LP: Ryan Dennick (0-1)
HR: Mario Lisson (6)

Northwest Arkansas dropped to 2-1 in a four-game series vs. Springfield. Mario Lisson's two-run homer in the seventh gave the Naturals a 2-1 lead. Springfield regained the lead with two of their own in the eighth and held on. Starter Noel Arguelles allowed one run on three hits in five innings, but settled for the no decision. Lisson's blast was one of just three hits the Naturals were able to muster against Cardinals pitching. The series wraps up on Sunday before the Naturals hit the road for eight.

Wilmington Blue Rocks (15-19)

Wilmington 7, Frederick 4
WP: Yordano Ventura (1-3)
HR: Whit Merrifield (4)

Wilmington moved their winning streak to three straight behind the arm of 20-year-old Yordano Ventura. The Dominican picked up his first win by allowing just one unearned run on three hits in seven frames to lower his ERA to 3.24. The Blue Rocks' offense plated two runs in the second, fourth and seventh. Whit Merrifield recorded two hits, including his second home run in as many days. Brian Fletcher added two hits to raise his average to .309.

Kane County Cougars (18-18)

Wisconsin 2, Kane County 1 (11 innings)
LP: Jason Mitchell (0-3)
HR: None

The Cougars fell back to the .500 mark with an extra-inning loss. Scott Alexander pitched well in a no-decision, allowing one run on six hits in six innings. Jason Mitchell tossed four scoreless innings of relief until allowing the winning run in the 11th. Tim Ferguson had two of the five Kane County hits.
