Royals Minor Leaguers pick up top honors

KANSAS CITY -- Awards are piling up for the Royals' Minor League system.

Ryan O'Hearn, Idaho Falls first baseman, was named Most Valuable Player of the Rookie Pioneer League. O'Hearn batted .372 and had 12 home runs and 50 RBIs.

The Chukars also led the league with five players named to the All-Star team: O'Hearn, third baseman Mike Hill, shortstop Corey Toups, outfielder Robert Pehl and pitcher Torey Deshazier.

Outfielder Logan Moon won the Appalachian League batting title with a .332 average after going 14-for-28 in the season's last week. He set a Burlington club record with 75 hits.
