Cuthbert takes MLB experience into Futures Game
Third baseman played in 4 games for Royals in place of Moustakas
KANSAS CITY -- Normally players are picked to play in the All-Star Futures Game for the chance to showcase what they can bring to the Major Leagues someday.
But the story is different for Cheslor Cuthbert, who will have already played four games for the Royals by the time he appears in the 2015 SiriusXM All-Star Futures game on July 12 at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati.
Cuthbert was called up Monday to fill in for third baseman Mike Moustakas, who was on the bereavement list with a family medical emergency. Cuthbert played in four games before being optioned again to Triple-A Omaha on Friday, making him once again eligible to participate in the Futures Game.

"I thank the Royals for giving me the opportunity to be here and play," said Cuthbert. "I had a lot of fun. I think the Futures Game will really be something that will be fun for me, too."
"I didn't really expect to come to the big leagues. I was getting ready to go to the Futures Game," Cuthbert said. "When I go back there, I'm going to try to remember [what] all these guys do to keep consistent, so I'm going to try to do the same thing down there, too."
Cuthbert went 5-for-15 with two runs, a triple and two RBIS in his four games in the Majors, during which the Royals swept Tampa Bay in a four-game series.
"As a young guy, you're always wondering what's it like and can I compete up here," manager Ned Yost said. "He knows now that he can play at this level."
