Prospect Adam earns promotion to Triple-A

BOSTON -- Right-hander pitcher Jason Adam, just after being named Texas League Pitcher of the Week, has been promoted to the Pacific Coast League by the Royals.

Adam's award-winning performance was seven shutout, five-hit innings in a win for Double-A Northwest Arkansas at Springfield on July 11. But he didn't allow a run in his last 14 innings for the Naturals before his promotion to Triple-A Omaha.

A product of Blue Valley Northwest High School in Overland Park, Kansas, Adam was 4-8 with a 5.03 ERA in 19 games for Northwest Arkansas. He's ranked as the No. 8 Royals prospect by MLB.com.

Third baseman-designated hitter Wander Franco of Idaho Falls was named Pioneer League Player of the Week after his .579 (11-for-19) spurt. Overall, Franco is batting .433 (26-for-60) in 16 games with 12 extra-base hits and 10 RBIs.
